Harivillu 1 is The Anganwadi Project’s inaugural anganwadi with RDT (Rural Development Trust). It is located in Bondalawada, a rural village in Andhra Pradesh, 45 minutes from the city of Anantapur.
The design of the school responds to the hot dry climate through a double layer roof construction that reduces heat penetration into the class and encourages passive ventilation. Named by the community Harivillu, meaning ‘rainbow’ in Telegu, this school provides the children with a bright, cool space to enjoy.
“I am very delighted by this building. It has all facilities like classroom, kitchen, toilet and lights. I can come happily to school even in summer as it has fan facility.”– a local child
